White Hot 09 by HENRY HU
White Hot 09 continues Hu's exploration of luminous restraint, but shifts the axis slightly. Where earlier works in the series press outward, this piece folds inward — a compositional breath held just below the threshold of release. Pale grounds carry faint structural traces: edges that suggest form without committing to it. The palette is almost monochromatic, yet the surface reads as layered, as if light is coming from within the image rather than falling onto it. It is quiet work with a long afterglow.
On canvas, White Hot 09 comes into its own. The woven surface catches light in a way flat paper cannot, lending Hu's delicate tonal shifts new dimension. Produced by hand in our Berlin studio with archival pigment inks — made to hold its presence for decades.
